What is yoga?
One of the objectives of yoga is to create balance between the mind, body and breath. Not only does it strengthen the body and improves health but also awakens the higher centres responsible for the evolution of human consciousness. It's a way of life, helping you move from a human doing to a human being.
I cant touch my toes...
...is one of the most common responses from most beginners in a yoga class. Many people may be put off yoga for this very reason. However, yoga helps to increase flexibility as well as strength and with continual practice will alleviate any tightness in the body.
I am a beginner
I offer private yoga classes for those that wish to learn the basics of yoga, giving new students confidence with their yoga technique.
If you are attending a yoga class, students should always arrive at least 15 mins early, avoid food 2-3 hours beforehand and never exert undue force whilst practising, always treat the body with kindness.
I have an injury
Always ensure you check with your doctor that yoga is suitable for your health. Often postures can be adapted to those with injuries so ensure the teacher is aware of any problems before the class starts.
